A market-leading team at the forefront of the energy transition
The Infrastructure and Energy team at Slaughter and May is recognised as an industry leader and innovator, breaking new ground on energy transition transactions and earning an international reputation for exceptional legal service, commercial awareness, and commitment to clients.
The scope of our Infrastructure & Energy work is extensive and covers the full spectrum of corporate M&A, financing, projects, dispute resolution and regulatory advice, providing clients with support across all aspects of risk.
We act for a diverse range of clients and stakeholders in the energy and infrastructure sectors (such as sponsors, consortia, lenders, regulators, contractors and consultants). We frequently advise governments (including on regulatory, procurement and financing matters), and are well-versed in balancing the needs of the various actors.
We build close and long-lasting relationships with our clients. They turn to us for strategic advice, significant mandates as well as for day-to-day support. Increasingly our clients are instructing us on their innovative or first-of-a kind energy and infrastructure projects, involving novel structures and bespoke contracts which cannot be taken off the shelf. We are increasingly supporting our clients in deploying new technology infrastructure for the energy transition, and we have advised on numerous industry firsts. These include the first nuclear power station to be constructed in the UK in more than 20 years; the UK’s first low carbon hydrogen and CCUS projects; and Africa’s first large-scale green hydrogen project.
We are increasingly supporting our clients in deploying new infrastructure assets to address pressing challenges such as climate change and broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) considerations. This includes advising on initiatives related to hydrogen and CCUS as integral parts of global efforts towards energy transition.
