Slaughter and May is advising Whitbread PLC on its rights issue

Slaughter and May is advising Whitbread PLC on its rights issue to raise gross proceeds of approximately £1 billion, as announced on 21 May 2020.

The purpose of the rights issue is to ensure that Whitbread emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic in the strongest possible position to take advantage of its long-term structural growth opportunities and win market share in both the United Kingdom and Germany.

Slaughter and May is supporting Whitbread’s in-house legal team led by Chris Vaughan, General Counsel and Company Secretary.

Slaughter and May advised Whitbread as a combined team with Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, who advised on matters of US law. The rights issue is fully underwritten by J.P. Morgan Cazenove and Morgan Stanley.
