Slaughter and May is advising NaMa Capital Advisors LLP (“NaMa”) on the investment by United Al Saqer Group into DNEG S.à r.l (“DNEG”). DNEG is a London-headquartered visual effects and production company which has won seven Academy Awards for Best Visual Effects and in which NaMa is an existing investor.
The investment implies an enterprise value for DNEG of approximately $2 billion and will enable the DNEG group to accelerate its diversification from being a pure visual effects services provider to a content production and AI-powered technology partner, providing the highest quality solutions across media, entertainment and gaming. In particular, the investment is expected to support new opportunities for DNEG in the development of new content by Prime Focus Studios, following the recent success of The Garfield Movie; the activation of a new technology division, Brahma; and the opening of a new visual experience hub in Abu Dhabi.
