Slaughter and May advised MTR Corporation Limited (MTR) on the project agreement for the financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance of Hung Shui Kiu Station (HSK) on the Tuen Ma Line. The HSK project involves construction of a new station on an operating railway viaduct of the Tuen Ma Line.
The cost of the HSK project is estimated to be around HK$7 billion (2024 prices).
HSK is one of the railway projects undertaken by MTR to support the overall development strategy of Hong Kong. Together with the Tung Chung Line Extension, the Oyster Bay Station, Kwu Tung Station on the East Rail Line and the Tuen Mun South Extension that are under construction, the projects will further enhance connectivity of relevant areas and strengthen the competitiveness of Hong Kong.
HSK will be located between Tin Shui Wai Station and Siu Hong Station on the Tuen Ma Line, providing direct, reliable and efficient railway services to the Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area and nearby residents in the future. HSK will be the first station in Hong Kong to be built on an operating railway viaduct.
The HSK project will be funded by financial contributions from the “Rail plus Property” development model.
The target completion of the HSK is in December 2030.
