Slaughter and May advised Google on its successful AdSense appeal

Slaughter and May advised Google in relation to its appeal to the General Court of the European Union against the European Commission’s AdSense decision. In March 2019, the Commission imposed a fine of €1.49 billion upon Google on the basis that it considered certain provisions in its AdSense for Search agreements to be anticompetitive. On 18 September 2024, the General Court issued its judgment annulling both the Commission’s infringement decision and the fine imposed on Google.
