Ross is a partner in our Disputes and Investigations group. He has a broad disputes and investigations practice, with particular expertise in class actions and mass claims. Ross has advised leading corporates and financial institutions on many of the most significant cases in the London market in recent years.
Highlights include advising:
- MAN SE in its defence of one of the largest ever competition law follow-on damages proceedings in the UK courts and Competition Appeals Tribunal covering multiple individual claims, group actions and competing applications for Collective Proceedings Orders;
- BHP Group PLC and other entities who are defendants to claims arising out of the collapse of the Fundão Dam in Brazil. The case involves over 700,000 claimants advancing claims under Brazilian law. The claim has been described in the press as one of the largest lawsuits in English legal history;
- Credit Suisse in relation to a c.$2 billion claim commenced by the Republic of Mozambique (plus related proceedings) arising out of the “tuna bond scandal”;
- Rolls-Royce in a complex contractual claim and an additional claim against various Rolls-Royce entities. The disputes raised complex legal issues of contractual interpretation and estoppel which were subsequently appealed;
- A major oil and gas related arbitration (SIAC) involving allegations of fraud and breach of contract, with damages claimed in excess of US$5.5 billion; and
- UK Asset Resolution Limited, Northern Rock Limited and other group companies on a number of actual and threatened public and private law claims.
