Assisting undergraduates through the Slaughter and May Scholarship Scheme

To address the financial challenges associated with university education, we introduced the Slaughter and May Scholarship Scheme in 2021.

This scholarship scheme provides ten high-potential undergraduate students with bursaries as well as access to a leadership development programme and a mentor for three years of their university studies.

To date we have supported 30 scholars. Our aim is to mitigate the financial stress of going to university for students from lower socio-economic backgrounds, specifically to alleviate the need to work during term time, so that they can fully participate in study and university life.

The scholarship scheme is an extension of our Law Springboard Programme, which we run in partnership with social mobility non-profit upReach providing 80 students each year with development opportunities, insight days and skills workshops, mentoring by a lawyer and work experience.

I am incredibly grateful to Slaughter and May for awarding me a scholarship under the Law Springboard Programme with upReach. This generous support has significantly eased my financial burdens during university, allowing me to focus on my studies and achieve my full potential. The professional development programmes and mentorship provided by the firm have also been invaluable in facilitating a smooth transition to a career in commercial law this summer.
