Supporting mental health services in Islington

James’ Place

James’ Place offers free, life-saving treatment to suicidal men at specialist centres in Liverpool, London and Newcastle. The organisation provides immediate access to one-to-one therapy which helps clients understand and recover from a suicidal crisis. The therapy sessions are delivered in a safe, friendly, non-clinical environment by trained, professional therapists.

The Maya Centre

The Maya Centre is a community-based charity in Islington providing free, culturally sensitive counselling, group work and complementary therapies for women from low-income backgrounds.

The Maya Centre support women whose mental health has been affected by a range of experiences including depression and anxiety, violence against women and girls, inequality, discrimination and racism.

Through its services, The Maya Centre aims to give women from different cultural and language backgrounds giving them a voice, choice and control over their wellbeing and life decisions.

We provide funding to James’ Place and The Maya Centre to support their operational costs and increase their reach in the borough of Islington.
