Slaughter and May publishes first report on its approach to responsible business
Download the Responsible Business UNGC COP Report 2020Slaughter and May has today published its first 'Communication on Progress' report as a signatory to the UN's Global Compact ('UNGC'). This is the firm’s first comprehensive responsible business report. It covers its work with suppliers, its engagement with clients, its culture and how it supports employees, through to its carbon reduction ambitions, its pro bono work and support of the community.
The firm signed up to the Global Compact in 2019 and, in so doing, committed to a framework of 10 principles that covers human rights, labour standards, the environment and anti-corruption. By joining the Compact, the firm is demonstrating a serious commitment to adopting a responsible business approach.
From its culture and approach to supporting employee wellbeing, from innovation to client engagement, and from diversity and inclusion to setting ambitious carbon reduction targets, this is the firm's first comprehensive responsible business report.
Paul Stacey, Executive Partner said: “I’m pleased to announce the publication of this report. It underlines the firm’s commitment to embedding sustainability and responsibility into our business operations and strategy and the success we have had in doing so. We recognise there is much more to do. Particularly in a time of uncertainty such as this, we must ensure our responsible business commitments continue to remain at the forefront of our activity in line with the ten principles of the UNGC.”

- Operate responsibly in alignment with universal sustainability principles;
- Take actions that support the society around it;
- Commit to the effort from an organization’s highest level, pushing sustainability deep into its DNA;
- Report annually on its ongoing efforts;
- Engage locally where it has a presence.
