Slaughter and May elects new Executive Partner
Slaughter and May, the leading international law firm, today announces that Paul Stacey has been elected Executive Partner with effect from 1 May 2017 for a five year term.
Paul joined Slaughter and May as a trainee solicitor in 1981 and became a Partner in 1990. He has a broad financing and projects practice with an emphasis on work in the power sector, both in the UK and internationally. He was head of the firm’s Finance Practice, and a Partnership Board member, from 2011 to 2014.
As Executive Partner, Paul will be responsible for the firm’s overall management strategy including people, finance, technology and compliance. He will work closely with Steve Cooke and David Wittmann, the firm’s Senior Partner and Practice Partner respectively.
Slaughter and May also announces today that David Wittmann has been re-elected as Practice Partner with effect from 1 May 2017 for a five year term.
Paul will succeed Richard Clark who is retiring from the firm in April 2017 when his four year term as Executive Partner ends. Richard joined Slaughter and May as a trainee solicitor in 1982 and became a Partner in 1991. Richard was Head of the firm’s Dispute Resolution group for five years from 2008 and when he retires will have served on the firm’s Partnership Board for a total of 14 years.
Steve Cooke said:
“I am delighted that Paul Stacey is to become Executive Partner. Paul is a hugely talented practitioner who has already made a significant contribution to the success of the firm. He will bring much experience, vision and energy to the role.
“Richard joined the firm on the same day as me in 1982. As well as being a good friend, he has been an outstanding Executive Partner and also one of the longest-serving members of our Partnership Board. He will be greatly missed after a long and extremely successful career with the firm.”
Paul Stacey commented:
“It is an immense privilege to have been elected Executive Partner. There are many special aspects to the way in which our practice operates and I look forward to preserving and promoting these, working with our exceptionally talented team.”
