Slaughter and May appoints Moira Thompson Oliver as Head of Business and Human Rights
Slaughter and May today announces the appointment of Moira Thompson Oliver as Head of Business and Human Rights.
Moira, who will be part of the firm’s growing sustainability practice, joins from longstanding client Vodafone where she has led their Human Rights programme since 2021. Before that she was at BT and she is also an alumnus of the firm, having been a corporate associate until 1997.
Moira has a wealth of experience advising multinational companies on implementing human rights and environmental governance programmes. Her expertise includes human rights governance, corporate ethics and supply chain standards.
This appointment also demonstrates the firm’s continued commitment to building its sustainability expertise, reflecting demand from clients for holistic advice in this area. Moira’s appointment complements existing expertise including sustainable finance, climate-related disclosures, litigation and activism, renewable energy, and governance.
David Watkins, partner at Slaughter and May and Co-head of Sustainability, commented: “We’re delighted Moira is returning to Slaughter and May as our Head of Business and Human Rights. Her experience complements existing expertise in the areas of environment and climate and is core to the work we are increasingly doing for clients in the UK and internationally.”
Moira Thompson Oliver, Senior Counsel and Head of Business and Human Rights, said: “The ‘S’ of ESG is an increasingly important, and sometimes overlooked, component of the wider sustainability agenda. This is an exciting opportunity for me to join a team that is building a market-leading reputation for advising corporates on the full range of ESG challenges which are priorities across boardrooms in every sector.”
