Slaughter and May and Lord Moynihan host 'The Governance of Sport' event
On Monday 1 December, Slaughter and May hosted a seminar that explored the key themes of Lord Moynihan's "The Governance of Sport" Private Members' Bill. A keynote address was given by John Coates AC, President of CAS, Vice President of the IOC and President of the Australian Olympic Committee.
Panel sessions were held throughout the day and included discussions of:
- policy setting for future governments in light of Olympic and Paralympic legacy
- legal challenges facing the sporting sphere
- the importance of good governance in the delivery of sports policy and performance

The event was a pre-cursor to the second debate of the Private Members' Bill that took place in the House of Lords on Thursday 4 December.
Slaughter and May continues to advise Lord Moynihan in relation to the Bill, which proposes a wide range of measures that are expected to dominate the political agenda for sport over the next decade.
