Juralio takes first place at Collaborate 2020's virtual Demo Day

Slaughter and May announces today that Juralio has taken first place at Demo Day, the conclusion of the second iteration of Collaborate, the firm’s legal tech programme. Juralio enables lawyers and clients to map legal work collaboratively so as to plan, execute, control and report more effectively, helping to deliver better value for clients and better margins for lawyers.

This year’s Demo Day took place this morning and was a live, virtual showcase event in which Juralio was awarded a further development opportunity with the firm.

Across the 16 week programme, cohort members have worked with two dedicated Slaughter and May mentors; a member of the firm’s Knowledge and Innovation Team and a practising lawyer from a relevant legal group.

Mentors worked with each cohort member to design and complete bespoke programmes for each cohort member. Programme highlights included Cohort Day in September, which involved presentations from Crowdcube, Luminance and Vodafone, as well as a series of firmwide demonstrations in preparation for today’s Demo Day event.

Demo Day presented the second Collaborate cohort to a broad virtual audience including clients, tech suppliers and the firm’s employees. Each of the seven companies in the second cohort presented their 'elevator pitch', and the audience then selected Novastone, thedocyard and Juralio to progress to the final round.

The three finalists were then asked to answer one of three tech and business focused questions by the judging panel, which consisted of members of the programme’s Client and Advisory Panels. The panel featured Andrea Ruggieri, Vice President of Digital and Privacy Legal, GlaxoSmithKline ; Shaun Sharkey, Equity Fundraising Manager at Crowdcube; Pierre Zickert, Manager Legal Technology at Hengeler Mueller; Alex Woods, Director of Knowledge and Innovation at Slaughter and May and Chris Browne, Chief Information Officer at Slaughter and May.

After a series of engaging presentations, the panel ultimately decided that Juralio should be the overall winner. Juralio won both the audience vote in round one, as well as being most popular with the judging panel in round two. The tool was praised particularly by in-house representatives, who recognise the utility of Juralio, due to its various integrations to accelerate matter management.

• Novastone - Novastone is a secure instant messaging platform integrated with public IM such as WhatsApp and WeChat. It is designed for firms to deliver a personalised client experience through relationship teams.
• Office & Dragons - Office & Dragons is a document automation startup on a mission to make documenting transactions simple, reliable and fast. It empowers lawyers to transform documents from a mess of static text into dynamic representations of data.
