Text alternative. Intro to Hong Kong Public M&A Review: H1 2020

M&A, both public and private, declined sharply across the Asia Pacific and Greater China region during the first six months of 2020. Public takeovers on the other major global exchanges have also suffered particularly sharp declines. Defying these trends, Hong Kong public M&A enjoyed a strong first half. The number of offers announced for Hong Kong listed companies increased against the same period last year, and the total value of those offers increased over fourfold.

We remain cautiously optimistic that factors underpinning the Hong Kong market’s attractiveness will continue through the remainder of 2020. Our Hong Kong Public M&A Review for H1 2020 sets out the key statistics for public M&A in H1, and discusses what we see as the key regulatory and commercial trends and developments to watch out for in the second half of 2020.
