European Commission conditionally clears Bayer’s acquisition of Monsanto
On 21 March 2018 the European Commission conditionally cleared the proposed acquisition of Monsanto by Bayer after a Phase II investigation. The acquisition will be the latest in a series of large-scale consolidations within the global agricultural sector. The clearance is conditional on the divestiture of an extensive remedy package, which will help maintain effective competition and innovation in the relevant markets.
