Prime Minister David Cameron has committed to hold an "in/out" referendum on the UK's membership of the European Union by 2017. The Prime Minister has promised first to attempt to negotiate a "new settlement" for the UK within the EU, "with the single market at its heart".
This is the first in a series of briefings covering the essential aspects of the UK's referendum on EU membership.
This edition discusses the Prime Minister's proposals for reform, the likelihood of success in renegotiation, and the extent to which renegotiation will impact the referendum.
