The decision in CL v SCG highlights the importance of timely enforcement of an arbitral award. The clock starts ticking when the defendant fails to honour the award within a reasonable time. Where enforcement proceedings are pursued in either Mainland China or Hong Kong only as a result of the rule against double enforcement, parties should be mindful of the risk of enforcement being rejected in one jurisdiction and time-barred in the other.
