A digital single market: the European Commission unveils its strategy

This briefing discusses the Commission's recently published Digital Single Market Strategy, focusing on some of the more controversial proposals that would impact businesses operating in Europe.

The strategy details 16 initiatives which are built on three central pillars, and aims to deliver all 16 actions by the end of 2016. The three pillars are:

  • better access for consumers and businesses to online goods and services across Europe
  • creating the right conditions and a level playing field for digital networks and innovative services to flourish
  • maximising the growth potential of the European digital economy
