Frances Murphy

The firm is very sorry to announce that Frances Murphy passed away last night after a long illness.

Frances was one of the City’s leading and best known corporate lawyers. She joined the firm in 1981, became a partner in 1990 and was head of the corporate department, and a member of the partnership board, from 2008-2014.

During her 35 years with the firm, she acted on many of the most high profile transactions on which the firm advised, representing some of firm’s most important clients, including General Electric, Banco Santander, Alliance Boots and Burberry. She was also active outside the office in a range of roles, supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital, the Network for Knowledge and the 30 Per Cent Club.

The Senior Partner of the firm, Steve Cooke, said:

"This is a very sad day. The news was received with great sorrow by everyone here. Frances was one of the most outstanding corporate lawyers in the City and made an exceptional contribution to the firm. She held the respect of the business community and had a huge reputation in the global legal market. We will really miss her. Our thoughts are with her family."
